The R-value tells you how well a door keeps the cold out: the higher, the warmer. Tell us about your garage and we'll show you what we'd recommend.
Non-insulated steel
R-0A single sheet of steel. Light and cheap, but cold, easy to dent and noisy. Fine for a shed, not for a home.
Polystyrene insulated
≈ R-6 to R-9Rigid foam panels between steel skins. Noticeably warmer, quieter and stiffer than bare steel, and a good fit for detached garages.
Polyurethane insulated
Up to R-18.4Foam injected between the skins bonds to the steel, so the door is the warmest, quietest and strongest. Our pick for attached garages and rooms above.

Openers. We install LiftMaster and Chamberlain openers, from whisper-quiet belt drives to wall-mount (jackshaft) units that free up your ceiling, with Wi-Fi, battery backup and automatic locks. Add one with your new door and it's programmed and tested the same day.
Aluminum capping. We wrap the wooden frame around your door in custom-bent aluminum, colour-matched to the door. It never needs painting again, and it keeps the frame from rotting through our freeze-thaw winters.
High-lift tracks. Want the door up out of the way for storage, a car lift or a workshop? We can raise the tracks so the door opens higher up the wall instead of hanging across the ceiling.
Windows and keypads. Add glass for natural light (frosted if you want privacy), and a wireless keypad so nobody in the family ever needs a key to get in.

- Are new tracks, springs and cables included?Some quotes reuse your old hardware. We replace the whole system.
- How well is it insulated, really?Ask for the R-value and whether it's polyurethane or polystyrene. Ours go up to R-18.4.
- Who's doing the install?Their own crew, or a subcontractor you've never met? Always our own installers.
- What's the warranty, in writing?Coverage varies by product and by installer, so get it on paper. We explain exactly what's covered for your door and install before you sign.

Garage door installation cost
What moves the price?
Every home is different, so we don't guess over the phone. These are the things that make the biggest difference to what a new garage door costs in the GTA.
Size and number of doors
A single 8 or 9-foot door costs less than a 16-foot double, and two singles cost more than one double.
Insulation
Bare steel, polystyrene or polyurethane. A higher R-value costs a little more and pays you back in comfort every winter.
Style and finish
Flush and long-panel doors in standard colours are the most affordable. Woodgrain finishes and carriage-house details add to it.
Windows and glass
Top-row windows, slim glass strips or full-view glass. More glass means more cost, and more light.
Opener and smart features
Keep a working opener, or add a quiet belt drive or wall-mount unit with Wi-Fi and battery backup.
Frame and capping
A rotted frame needs fixing first. Aluminum capping adds a clean finish that never needs painting.

How much does a new garage door cost?
It depends on the size of your opening (single or double), the insulation, the style and finish, any windows, and whether you need a new opener, capping or frame repairs. See what moves the price above.
Anyone who quotes a firm number over the phone without seeing your opening is guessing, and that guess usually changes on install day. We give you the real number in person, in writing, before you commit to anything, and the estimate is free.
How long does garage door installation take?
Most installs are done in a single day: old door out, new door in, with new tracks, springs and hardware, tested and cleaned up. Your door is made to order, so the time from "yes" to install day depends on the style and colour you choose. Many of our customers have their new door within about two weeks.
How does the free in-home estimate work?
Once your appointment is booked, our garage door specialist calls you 15 minutes before arriving. They measure your opening and walk you through your options, including a new opener and aluminum capping, so your price covers everything you need.
You'll flip through our catalogue to choose a style that suits the front of your home, and see real colour samples next to your brick, front door and window capping. You leave with an exact written price and no obligation.
What happens on installation day?
We start by removing and disposing of your old garage door. Unlike many companies, we replace the entire system with all-new hardware: springs, cables, rollers, tracks and reinforcements. The new sections go up on the new system, and we finish with a full test run to make sure everything moves smoothly and safely. See the install-day timeline above.
What warranty comes with a new garage door?
Every new door and installation comes with a warranty. What it covers, and for how long, depends on the door and products you choose, so we spell it out in writing with your estimate, before you sign anything. And if something isn't right, we come back and make it right.
Why should I hire a professional to install my garage door?
Installing a garage door means winding springs that hold enough tension to cause serious injury, and balancing a door that can weigh as much as a fridge. It takes training, the right tools and experience. Our technicians install and replace garage doors and openers every day, quickly and safely, and we stand behind the work.
Should I choose a polyurethane or polystyrene insulated door?
For an attached garage, a heated space or a garage with a room above it, choose polyurethane: the foam bonds to the steel, so the door is warmer (up to R-18.4), quieter and stronger. For a detached, unheated garage, polystyrene is a sensible, lower-cost upgrade over bare steel. Try the insulation picker above.
Should I replace my garage door opener at the same time?
If your opener is old, noisy or unreliable, installing a new one with your door saves a second visit, and it's programmed and tested with the new door on day one. We install openers from the most trusted brands, including smart models you can open and check from your phone. If your current opener is in good shape, we'll simply reconnect it.
Why should I invest in aluminum capping?
Capping wraps the wooden frame around your garage door in aluminum that's colour-matched to your door. You'll never need to paint or maintain the frame again, and it protects the wood from rotting through our weather changes, while giving the whole opening a clean, finished look.
Do I need a permit to replace my garage door?
Usually not, for a like-for-like replacement in the same opening. If you're changing the size of the opening or the structure around it, your municipality may require a permit. We'll tell you during the estimate if anything about your project needs one.
Can you install a new garage door in winter?
Yes, we install all year round. An insulated door with new weatherstripping goes in just the same in January as in July, and winter is when you'll feel the difference the most.
